Site Accessibility for Disabled Individuals

Branch Offices

 

Disabled individuals will find Secretary of State branch offices in compliance with Barrier Free Design standards established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you need accommodation or have been denied services, telephone 888/SOS-MICH (888-767-6424).

 

Customers can request Ameslan (sign language) interpreters in advance of a branch office visit or may use an interpreter they know. Ameslan interpreters are compensated by the Department of State. For more information contact 888/SOS-MICH (888-767-6424) or telephone the Michigan Relay Center at 800-649-3777.

 

English and Spanish versions of the original driver license tests are available on audiotape.

Legal and Regulatory Services Administration


(Driver Assessment and Appeal Division, Business Licensing and Regulation Division, Driver Programs Division, Investigations Division, Internal Security Division)

 

All facilities of the Legal and Regulatory Services Administration, including state-owned offices and privately leased space, are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and are accessible to persons with disabilities. This includes all sites where administrative hearings are conducted, including outstate hearing sites used by the Driver Assessment and Appeal Division.

 

An individual who is hearing impaired may request the use of a sign language interpreter to facilitate participation at an administrative hearing. A request to use a sign language interpreter should be submitted at least five (5) days before the day of the hearing. The Legal and Regulatory Services Administration will directly pay the sign language interpreter.
