Step 2: Obtain and File Your Surety Bond Summary Step 5 Step 4 Step 3 Step 2 Step 1

Obtain and file a $10,000 surety bond with the county clerk of your residence within 90 days prior to filing your application. If you are not a Michigan resident you must file your surety bond in the county where your principal place of business is located. Attorneys licensed in Michigan are not required to file a surety bond.

There is a nonrefundable fee of $10 for filing your surety bond with your county clerk. The fee may be higher in some counties.

At the time of filing your surety bond, your county clerk will administer the oath of office and verify that you have completed all of the requirements.
