Note
Standard state ID cards are free to applicants age 65 or older, who are
legally blind, whose license has been revoked, suspended or denied or who are
unable to drive due to a
physical or mental disability.
Enhanced state ID cards are offered for a reduced fee only to residents age
65 or older and to those who are legally blind.
Acceptable proof of legal blindness can be one of the following:
- A doctor's statement.
- Documentation from one of Michigan's state libraries for the blind.
- Documentation from the Department of Human Services, Commission for the
Blind in Lansing.
- A "Certificate of Completion" on letterhead stationery from the Leader Dog
School.
