Medal of Honor

Medal of Honor

Michigan is proud to recognize its men and women who served in the U.S. military. Residents awarded the Medal of Honor are eligible for a Medal of Honor plate. Spouses are not eligible. The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded and is bestowed on those serving with gallantry and bravery beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy.

The plate is available in the standard (white with a blue bar) or Spectacular Peninsulas design. The fee for the Spectacular Peninsulas design is $5. You may also personalize the plate for an additional fee.

A Medal of Honor plate can only be used on passenger cars, pickup trucks, vans and motor homes. Motorcycles, trailers and vehicles used commercially are not eligible.

Veterans interested in obtaining a Medal of Honor plate should contact the Department of State Renewal By Mail Unit in Lansing at (517) 322-1271 for more information.
