  Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)
How has UCC search logic changed?
 
Answer:
With the enactment of Article 9 on July 1, 2001, the Department of State UCC office changed the search logic used to process UCC searches. Certain business endings are considered noise words and are eliminated for search purposes. Debtor names are searched exactly as requested, with no variations, according to the new search logic. Also, when the item #2 search option "All" is requested on the UCC11, Information Request Form, lapsed or terminated filings are given for one year after the filing lapse date.
