Mohawk Secretary of State office open twice a week starting April 1

Contact:  (Media Contact) Kelly Chesney 517-373-2520
Agency: Secretary of State

MARCH 26, 2008

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land reminds residents that the Mohawk branch office will be open two days a week instead of one beginning Tuesday, April 1.

The office at 3616 U.S. Highway 41 will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays through the end of September, when it returns to service one day a week as it adjusts to the lower seasonal business volume.

Hours remain 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office closes for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. both days.

The Mohawk office opened in January 1999 and is the first full-service Secretary of State branch in Keweenaw County.

Customers renewing license plates can "skip the trip" to a branch office and do business by mail, or if eligible, by Internet or touch-tone telephone. Easy to follow instructions are on the renewal notice. License plate tabs will arrive by mail within seven business days.
