You can if your insurance company participates in the Department's Electronic Insurance Verification program. If your plate renewal notice includes a 9-character Personal Information Number (PIN) in the lower left corner, this means your insurance company participates in EIV and has notified the Department that your vehicle is insured.

If your renewal notice has a PIN and the address shown on the renewal notice is correct, you may renew by Touch-Tone phone (517-334-9444), by Internet or using a self-service station at Secretary of State Super Centers and Plus offices.
