    Self-Service Stations

    Image: Self-Service StationScan. Pay. Go!

Renewing vehicle tabs is a snap thanks to automated Self-Service Stations now in Secretary of State PLUS offices, SUPER!Centers and other select branches and locations across Michigan. The ATM-style machines give customers the option of renewing their vehicle tabs without waiting for service at the counter. Fewer people in line also allow employees more time to assist customers who have complex transactions.

Customers simply follow the touch-screen directions and scan the bar code on their renewal notice. Upon verifying the information and accepting the credit card, the Self-Service Station prints a vehicle tab and receipt for the customer. Single transactions usually can be accomplished in seconds.

To use the Self-Service Station customers must have:

A renewal notice with their correct name, address, vehicle information and personal identification number (PIN) or the phrase "insurance verified electronically" printed on it.

A valid Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card or a debit card branded by Visa or MasterCard. A nominal processing fee will be charged.

Self-Service Stations cannot be used to renew Gross Vehicle Weight tabs.Happy Self-service Station Customer

While simplicity is one of the Self-Service Station's greatest attributes, customer service specialists in each office will provide any necessary assistance.

The Self-Service Stations are the latest in a long list of technological improvements that the Secretary of State has brought to our customers. A greater variety of Web-based services and numerous timesaving branch-office upgrades are just some of the enhancements that have been made.

To find the nearest branch office Self-Service Station:

Visit the convenient Branch Office Locator that lets customers find an office based on the specific services they are seeking. The locator also gives customers the option of searching statewide or by city, county or ZIP code. Select "Self-Service Stations" and hit "Search." Upon finding the Self-Service Station nearest you, simply click on the branch office name to see the hours that the Self-Service Station is available. Many can be used 24/7.
