Friday, April 13, 2012

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Daniel A. Goostrey, of Jackson, to the 12th District Court in Jackson. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the removal of Judge James M. Justin.

"Dan Goostrey is an experienced lawyer with a diverse legal practice," said Snyder. "His extensive experience with public education and youth activities in the Jackson area will serve him well as a district judge."

Goostrey has been with the law firm of Parker & Adams PC since 2002. He previously worked as an associate attorney for the firm of Best, Heyns, Klaeren & Schroeder PC. Goostrey currently serves as president of the Napoleon Board of Education and has served on the board since 2005. He attended Michigan Center High School in Jackson and Jackson Community College. Goostrey earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University, law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and has been licensed since 1998.

Goostrey is active in his community and professional organizations, including the State Bar of Michigan. He currently serves as a youth hockey coach and is a certified commercial pilot and flight instructor.

Goostrey is married to Peggy and they have two children, Kelsey and Bradley. His appointment runs through Jan. 1, 2013, and he will have to seek election in 2012 for a full term.
