Muskegon State Park Offering Family Fun Fest Oct. 18

Muskegon State Park and the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex will host their first "GO-Get Outdoors" Family Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Events will include a 5-K custom race, pumpkin carving, campground trick-or-treating, and a "boo fire" with "scare mallows."

This event is open to campers and all park visitors. Participants should bring their own pumpkin carving utensils and treats to pass out for trick-or-treating.

Muskegon State Park is located at 3560 Memorial Dr., 15 miles north of Muskegon. It borders two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and one mile on Muskegon Lake. Local attractions include the Michigan Adventure amusement park, Gillette Nature Center at Hoffmaster State Park, Muskegon County Museum of Art, and USS Silversides - World War II submarine tours. The park offers 244 modern campsites with accessible restroom facilities, and sites are still available for this event. Camping reservations can be made on-line at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
