Department of Natural Resources wildlife officials today noted the following errors in the 2008 Michigan Antlerless Deer Hunting Guide.
Several deer management units that have antlerless deer licenses available for public land for the upcoming season were not included in the Hunt Table, officials said.
"The map accompanying the table is correct," said Rod Clute, DNR big-game specialist. "The computerized license sales system will have the correct information so this will not impact a hunter's ability to apply for a license."
A corrected table is being printed and will be distributed to all license dealers in preparation for the application period, which begins July 15. The online version of the table on the DNR Web site also is correct.
Officials also noted the list of counties open to the late firearm antlerless deer hunting season has not changed from last year.
"A number of counties that will be open during the late firearm antlerless deer hunting season were not included in the list that was printed in the guide," Clute said. "If you legally hunted during the late firearm antlerless deer season last year, that county will be open again this year."
Counties open during the late firearm antlerless deer hunting season, which begins Dec. 22, 2008, and runs through Jan. 1, 2009, are: Alcona, Allegan, Alpena, Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Clinton, Crawford, Eaton, Genesee, Gratiot, Hillsdale, Huron, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Montcalm, Montmorency, Oakland, Oscoda, Otsego, Ottawa, Presque Isle, St. Joseph, Sanilac, Shiawassee, Tuscola, Van Buren and Washtenaw.
