Treasury Offers Online Payments For Business Taxes

Business taxpayers in Michigan can now make their tax payments quickly, conveniently, and securely using the Department of Treasury's new online payment process. The new online feature expands Treasury's current Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) program that allows taxpayers to pay over the phone.

With the new online option, businesses can make a secure and confidential transfer to the Department, directly from their bank account, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once logged in to the system, taxpayers can also perform several other functions, including requesting an e-mail confirmation of their transaction, viewing payment history, and updating or changing bank information.

"The new online payment feature is another example of how the state is making it easy for business to be done in Michigan," said State Treasurer Robert J. Kleine. "This will allow businesses to comply with state tax laws in a convenient and secure way."

Treasury will continue to allow EFT payments to be made over the phone. Regardless of whether the payments are made by phone or online, taxpayers will have the convenience of scheduling a payment in advance.

Taxes eligible for online EFT payments include; Sales Tax, Use Tax, Withholding, Single Business Tax annual return, Michigan Business Tax (MBT) estimates, MBT extensions, MBT annual return, Tobacco Tax, Motor Fuel Taxes, IFTA Motor Carrier, and 911 payments.

For more information on making payments by EFT, visit www.michigan.gov/biztaxpayments.
