The Michigan Physician Guide to End-of-Life Care

The Michigan Department of Community Health and several state physician associations have collaborated in the development and release of The Michigan Physician Guide to End-of-Life Care. The 48-page booklets provide advice on issues from communicating with patients and their families to providing pain and palliative care. “This Guide to End-of-Life Care will serve as an excellent resource for physicians as they help patients struggle with this extremely difficult issue,” said DCH Director James Haveman.

The five-chapter booklet includes information on the following:

Chapter 1: Communication at the End of Life

Chapter 2: Advanced Care Planning

Chapter 3: Pain and Other Physical Symptoms

Chapter 4: Palliative Care

Chapter 5: Withdrawing or Withholding Care
