Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Colonel Peter C. Munoz is pleased to announce the promotion of Captain Robert E. Clark to major and commander of the MSP Field Services Bureau (FSB) East Region effective June 15, 2008. 

As FSB East Region commander, Clark is responsible for coordinating MSP services including criminal investigations and traffic enforcement in 31 counties covering southeast Michigan, mid-Michigan and the thumb region.  Clark will also serve as one of seven members of the department's Executive Council.

Prior to promotion, Clark served as Second District Commander where he was responsible for the operation of eight MSP posts covering Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. 

Clark joined the department in 1979, and graduated as a member of the 96th Trooper Recruit School.  In his 29-year career, he has served at the Niles, Flat Rock and Northville posts, as well as the Training Division, Southeast Criminal Investigation Division and the Second District Headquarters.  Clark is also a graduate of the 185th Session of the FBINA (Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy). 

During his career, Clark has held ranks as trooper, specialist trooper, sergeant, lieutenant, detective lieutenant, detective first lieutenant, inspector, captain and now major.

A native of Lincoln Park, Clark currently resides in Monroe.
