Michigan Education Trust (MET)

MET Program Description
12/10/01

The Michigan Education Trust (MET), Michigan’s Section 529 prepaid tuition program allows parents, grandparents, businesses and others to pre-purchase undergraduate tuition for a child residing in Michigan at any Michigan public university or college, including 28 public community colleges.

There need not be a relationship between the purchaser and the child.  MET also provides benefits if a student chooses to attend a Michigan independent (private) college or university, although it does not cover full tuition at these schools.

MET is designed to help students save for a future college education, thereby minimizing the amount of debt burden.  Don’t delay, save today and take advantage of a Michigan tax deduction and tax exempt earnings.

Visit www.treasury.state.mi.us or call toll free 1-800-MET-4-KID (Monday through Friday, 8a – 5p)
