Historical Society of Michigan Takes Ownership of Michigan Centennial Farm Program

Contact:  Laura Ashlee (517) 335-2725
Agency: History, Arts and Libraries

July 2, 2008

The State Historic Preservation Office today announced that, as of July 1, the Historical Society of Michigan - a non-profit organization devoted to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Michigan history - has assumed responsibility for the Michigan Centennial Farm Program.

The SHPO will no longer be involved in the administration of this program, explained State Historic Preservation Officer Brian Conway.

"The Centennial Farm Program recognizes farms that have been in continuous family ownership for over 100 years and is a good compliment to the Historical Society of Michigan's other recognition programs, such as the Centennial Business Program," said Conway.
