ARRA project will resurface 12 miles of I-96

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Monday, Aug. 3, 2009

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Monday, Sep. 14, 2009

PROJECT: A $1.7 million investment will begin Monday, Aug. 3 on I-96 in northern Ottawa County. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will oversee the resurfacing of both directions of I-96 from M-104 to 68th Avenue. Safety enhancements include the addition of shoulder rumble strips.

This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: To minimize the impact on traffic, all work will take place between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. only, with traffic maintained by the use of single lane closures. Eastbound I-96 lane closures will occur Monday through Thursday nights, while westbound closures will take place Sunday through Thursday nights. All lanes will be opened to traffic by 6 a.m. daily.
