June 17, 2009 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking public input regarding a proposed project on M-21 over Swartz Creek in the city of Flint. Work includes wall and partial sidewalk replacements, bridge repairs, drainage improvements, and curb and gutter installations. This project will benefit residents by increasing safety and preserving the life of the bridge.
MDOT is working with the city of Flint to acquire two sections of right of way at Aldrich Park, located adjacent to M-21 on the north and south sides, east of Swartz Creek, to accommodate this work. The functions and attributes of Aldrich Park will not be altered in any way as a result of MDOT's proposed project.
Public input is being sought to help MDOT recognize and address any public concerns regarding possible impact on Aldrich Park which may result from the proposed improvements.
"MDOT is encouraging the public to comment on the proposed work through June 30, 2009," said Robert H. Parsons, MDOT public involvement and hearings officer.
The public can mail comments to Parsons at the Bureau of Transportation and Planning, Michigan Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 30050, Lansing, MI 48909. Faxed comments can be directed to Parsons at 517-373-9255; and emailed comments to parsonsb@michigan.gov.
For more information regarding this proposed project, contact Jason Garza at the MDOT Bay Region Office, 55 E. Morley Drive, Saginaw, MI 48601, or email garzaJ3@michigan.gov.
