Brighton Recreation Area Hosts 'GO-Get Outdoors' Chainsaw Carving Demonstration on June 27

Brighton Recreation Area today announced that Scott Kuefler, an internationally known chainsaw wood carver from Chesterfield Township, will demonstrate his talent and craft on Saturday, June 27.

Kuefler was at the Brighton Recreation Area last July and created beautiful turtle and owl carvings that now decorate the entrance to the Bishop Lake campground.

The public demonstration for campers and park visitors will be held from noon until 4 p.m. at the Brighton Lake campground.

The Bishop Lake campground is located within the Brighton Recreation Area, at 5210 Bishop Lake Rd. in Brighton. For more information about this event, the park, accessibility, or persons needing accommodations to attend this event, contact the park supervisor at (810) 229-6566 (TTY/TDD 711 Michigan Relay Center for the hearing impaired), or visit www.michigan.gov/brighton.

Camping reservations can be made online at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling the DNR central reservation system at 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
