Young State Park Hosting Youth Fishing Tournament June 20 for the 90th Anniversary of Michigan State Parks

Young State Park is hosting a GO-Get Outdoors youth fishing tournament on Saturday, June 20, as part of the 90th anniversary of Michigan State Parks.

At 10:30 a.m., there will be a tournament for children age 14 and younger. At 11:30 a.m., there will be fishing activities and a guided nature hike with Department of Natural Resources Park Interpreter Maureen Jacobs-Stine. Prizes will be donated by local vendors.

Cake will be served at 12:30 p.m. at the day use area near the camp store in celebration of Michigan State Parks' 90th anniversary.

Young State Park is located at 02280 Boyne City Rd. in Boyne City. For more information about this event, the park, accessibility, or persons needing accommodations to attend this event, contact the park at (231) 582-7523 (TTY/TDD 711 Michigan Relay Center for the hearing impaired), or visit www.michigan.gov/young.

The park offers 239 campsites, and camping reservations can be made online at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling the DNR central reservation system at 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
