Kingston Lake State Forest Campground Temporarily Closed

The Department of Natural Resources today announced the Kingston Lake State Forest Campground, located 16 miles northeast of Melstrand in Alger County, will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, June 15.

This temporary closure is due to the reconstruction and paving of County Road H-58. Current construction plans project the closure of the campground extending through Aug. 15, 2009.

Questions concerning this closure may be directed to Shingleton Unit Manager Jeff Stampfly at (906) 452-6227, ext. 240, or Recreation Specialist Dan Moore at (906) 293 5131, ext. 4045.

Information regarding other camping, ORV riding, or hiking opportunities in Alger and Northern Schoolcraft County may be found on the DNR's Web site at www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails, or by calling the DNR Newberry Operations Service Center at (906) 293-5131, ext. "0" for the operator.
