April 2012: Month of the Military Child
WHEREAS, more than 20,000 of Michigan's children and youth have been directly affected by the military service of at least one parent; and,
WHEREAS, these young citizens are just as brave and worthy of admiration as their parents who courageously and readily serve the people of this state and country in the Armed Forces of the United States of America on active duty around the world; and,
WHEREAS, it is important to let our service men and women know that while they are taking care of us, we are taking care of their children; and,
WHEREAS, during this month, we salute Michigan's military children and youth for their relentless commitment, spirit and unconditional support of our troops, and we encourage local community support of military children and families;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 2012 as Month of the Military Child in Michigan.
