Monday, March 26, 2012: Graduate Education Day
WHEREAS, Michigan's universities are committed to serving society and the state of Michigan as they provide the tools students need to become our nation's future leaders; and,
WHEREAS, education is vital to the growth and success of students, and our universities recognize the importance of a diverse student body, encouraging learners of all backgrounds to pursue graduate education; and,
WHEREAS, student-faculty research partnerships integrate research and graduate education, and graduate educators in master's and doctoral programs across the state are providing the knowledge and analytical skills that will ensure Michigan workers are among the most productive in the world; and,
WHEREAS, from research for new medical treatments to alternative energy, Michigan's graduate students contribute much to our state and nation, and on this day, we encourage citizens throughout Michigan to recognize the value of graduate education;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Monday, March 26, 2012 as Graduate Education Day in Michigan.
