January 2012: Discover Michigan Snow Sports Month
WHEREAS, home to more downhill ski areas than any other state, Michigan winters offer a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities including skiing and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and snowmobiling; and,WHEREAS, the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan has a rich outdoor recreation heritage and each year, residents and visitors continue to enjoy winter tourism throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, during this month, we encourage Michigan residents and visitors to learn more about and take advantage of the many snow sports Pure Michigan has to offer;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 2012 as Discover Michigan Snow Sports Month.
