Flags to be lowered Friday, January 21, 2011 for Officer Larry Nehasil of Livonia
LANSING, MI - Governor Rick Snyder today ordered the United States flags within the State Capitol Complex to be lowered Friday, January 21, 2011, in honor of Officer Larry Nehasil, of Livonia, Michigan.
Officer Nehasil died January 17, 2011, when he was shot in the line of duty. Flags should be returned to full-staff Saturday, January 22, 2011.
Officer Nehasil, age 48, was a police officer for the city of Livonia.
When flown at half-staffed or half-mast, the United States flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
