Pension Basics

You are eligible to retire with a full retirement at any age when you have attained 25 years of service as an enlisted officer.

Pension eligibility formula. Any age with 25 years of service.

Your pension formula multiplies your final average compensation (FAC) by 60 percent.

            Pension formula. Final average compensation times 60 percent.

Generally, your FAC is your last two years of service. Navigate to Calculating Your FAC under Available Benefits on the left navigation bar to learn more.

The pension formula above is for a full retirement. Pensions are calculated differently for a deferred retirement, disability retirement, and survivor pension. Your pension plan may also continue to your spouse and/or minor children when you die as a retiree. Review the different eligibility and formula rules for these by clicking on Available Benefits on the left navigation bar.
