SAGINAW. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Bay City Post today announced that a traffic stop in Saginaw turned deadly after a suspect shot a state trooper.
At 2:15 a.m. this morning, state troopers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Fulton Street, west of Walcott Street, in the city of Saginaw. During the traffic stop a 24-year-old passenger fired several shots at the troopers, and one trooper was struck twice. Troopers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.
The wounded trooper was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw and is listed in stable condition.
