The Basic Investigator School (formerly called Basic Detective School) is a 40-hour program designed for the new detective/investigator and includes classroom lectures and workshops. This course is offered to certified law enforcement officers only, and is held at the Michigan State Police Training Academy. Topics include:

Cost for this training is:
$300, which includes tuition, lunches and breaks
$430, which includes tuition, lodging and meals
(lodging is based on double occupancy, additional charge for Sunday night lodging)
