The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 Citizen Corps Awards:
2008 Citizen Corps Team of the Year
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department Reserve Officers Association was selected as the 2008 Citizen Corps Team of the Year for their dedication to promoting citizen and community preparedness through outstanding initiatives, leadership, commitment, and creativity. This team is a registered Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program through the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

2008 Citizen Corps Council of the Year
The Detroit Citizen Corps Council was selected as the 2008 Citizen Corps Council of the Year for their dedication to encouraging collaboration between all partner teams in their geographic area. In addition to promoting citizen and community preparedness, the Council of the Year also coordinates and recruits Citizen Corps affiliate partners.

2008 Citizen Corps Volunteer of the Year
The 2008 Citizen Corps Individual of the Year was awarded to both Suzanne Rohn with the Dearborn Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Yvonne Whitely of the Rochester Hills CERT team. Both recipients were selected for their hard work and dedicated leadership in their respective Citizen Corps programs.
This award is in honor and memory of Sgt. Dave Fournier who served as the Rochester Hills Citizen Corps and CERT team director. Sergeant Fournier was an Oakland Sheriffs Deputy Sergeant and was a champion of the Citizen Corps program.
