The Firearms Records Unit is responsible for processing, verifying and maintaining firearm records and the associated database. This unit does not provide legal advice, interpret firearm laws, or determine eligibility for License to Purchase a Firearm (LTP) permits.
For questions regarding permit eligibility or the legal interpretation of Michigan firearm laws, please contact your local law enforcement agency or prosecuting attorney’s office, as the Michigan State Police does not issue LTPs.
