John Doe #1 - Unidentified black male

MSP-John Doe #1

Victim: Male, African descent/possibly mixed
Age: 40 - 60
Height: 5' 2" - 5' 7"
Nationality: May be from outside the U.S.
Other:
Missing all upper and lower front teeth.  Limited use or movement of right shoulder.

In September 1995, Wayne County Sheriff's Department personnel recovered the skeletonized remains of an adult male from the bank of the Rouge River near the intersection of Edward Hines Park Drive and Middlebelt Rd. in Westland, MI. The remains were associated with a green T-shirt(42-44 Large). The skeleton displays several old, healed injuries. A number of years before death, the lower jaw and skull were fractured; the upper and lower front teeth were lost; four of the middle left ribs were fractured; the right shoulder bones were fractured and fused; and the anterior left hip was fractured. A small piece of lead was embedded in the rear of the left hip bone, indicating that the person survived a gunshot many years before death. The person probably died between 1990 and 1995 and the remains may have entered the Rouge River at a point upstream from Hines Park.

If you have any information about this case, or if the above photos remind you of someone you have not seen in a while, please contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, (734) 721 -7749.
