Motor Carrier Investigator Catherine Fisher - 2008 Motor Carrier Officer of the Year Award LANSING. Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Colonel Peter C. Munoz is pleased to announce that Motor Carrier Investigator Catherine Fisher of the Sixth District Headquarters in Grand Rapids is the recipient of the 2008 Motor Carrier Officer of the Year Award.

The Motor Carrier Officer of the Year award, sponsored by the Michigan Trucking Association since 1985, recognizes the MSP motor carrier officer who symbolizes outstanding professional ethics, dedication to duty and concern for giving back to their community. Fisher received the award today at a special ceremony in Lansing .

“Motor Carrier Investigator Fisher was chosen for her high-level of professionalism and motivation both on-duty and in her community,” said Munoz. “Her work ethic and dedication to service set a high standard of excellence for all to follow.”

A 28-year member of the MSP, Fisher has successfully investigated many detailed, diverse and high-profile cases. With her vast knowledge and resourcefulness, Fisher is particularly adept at economic-type complaints, including haul-for-hire and household goods transportation complaints.

In addition to being an effective criminal investigator, Fisher has provided guidance and leadership to many new officers, sharing her regulations expertise with each motor carrier officer recruit class. She is often sought out by officers and investigators for information regarding new regulations on authority issues and household goods regulation.

Fisher’s dedication continues when she is off-duty. She is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and has devoted her spare time to maintaining her LPN nursing certification. Fisher is active in her community, continuously lending a helping hand to her neighbors and keeping a watchful eye on their homes, as many of them travel to warmer climates in the winter months.

Fisher joined the department in 1980. Prior to transferring to the Sixth District Headquarters in 1992, she served at the Motor Carrier Division Headquarters and in New Buffalo, Wayland and at the First District Headquarters.
