January 29, 2009 - Weber Named 2008 Civilian of the Year

Contact:  F/Lt. Robert Yorke, MSP Richmond Post commander, (586) 727-0203
Agency: State Police

LANSING. Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Colonel Peter C. Munoz is pleased to announce that Mr. Terance Weber of the Richmond Post is the 2008 recipient of the Floyd R. Bell Jr. Civilian of the Year Award. Weber received the award at a special ceremony today in Lansing.

“Mr. Weber was chosen as our Civilian of the Year for his accomplishments both on and off the job,” said Munoz. “His dedication and commitment exemplifies the department’s proud tradition of service through excellence, integrity and courtesy.”

Weber has served as janitor of the Richmond Post since 2000. Co-workers credit Weber’s work ethic and enthusiasm for creating a positive work environment and note his willingness to go above and beyond his job duties to help others. Due to his job knowledge and quality of work, Weber is often sought out by adjoining agencies for assistance with building maintenance and janitorial services. He has forged strong personal and professional bonds with his co-workers due to his caring demeanor and dedication to excellence.

As a devout family man, Weber has worked a second job, along with extra handy man jobs, in order to provide for his family. He is a long-time member of his community’s church, where he regularly attends service. Weber lives in Marysville with his wife, Carolyn, and two daughters, Michelle and Angela.

The Civilian of the Year Award is named in honor of the late Floyd R. Bell Jr., a 42-year employee of the MSP, who continuously demonstrated commitment and dedication to the department and his community.
