EAST LANSING. Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Colonel Peter C.
Munoz is pleased to announce the promotion of Major Anthony Gomez-Mesquita to
lieutenant colonel and commander of the Field Services Bureau (FSB) effective
June 3.
In
his new position, Gomez-Mesquita serves as one of the department's three deputy
directors and as a member of the department's Executive Council. As commander
of the FSB, Gomez-Mesquita will provide executive direction and leadership to
more than 2,000 enlisted and civilian employees assigned to the department's 64
posts, as well as the Southeast Criminal Investigation, Special Operations and
Traffic Safety divisions.
Prior to his promotion, Gomez-Mesquita served as commander of the FSB East
Region, which includes three MSP districts and the Southeast Criminal
Investigation Division covering the eastern Lower Peninsula. Gomez-Mesquita was
responsible for coordinating and delivering effective and efficient police
services in criminal investigations and patrol-related activities within the
East Region.
Gomez-Mesquita enlisted with the department in 1982, and graduated as a member
of the 97th Trooper Recruit School. He has served at the Brighton,
Detroit, Gaylord, Flint and Mt. Pleasant posts, as well as the Criminal
Investigation Division and the MSP First District before being promoted to major
and commander of the East Region in 2004.
In
his 25 years with the department, Gomez-Mesquita has held the ranks of trooper,
detective trooper, sergeant, detective lieutenant, first lieutenant, inspector,
captain, major and now lieutenant colonel.
A
native of Detroit, Gomez-Mesquita resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife and two
children.
