The East Region serves 27 of Michigan's 83 counties in the eastern Lower Peninsula, including the metropolitan Detroit area (Lenawee, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties). The Region provides uniform patrol, regional dispatch, and specialized investigative services for southeast Michigan through the First, Second, and Third Districts uniformed headquarters and the East Region Special Investigation Division.
The specialized investigative services provided by both the East and West Regions includes the areas of organized crime, white collar crimes, tax fraud, auto theft, fugitive apprehension, narcotics trafficking and interdiction, computer crimes, identity fraud, casino gaming, surveillance, violent crimes, cold case homicides, anti-terrorism, video enhancement, and electronic technical services. Nineteen multijurisdictional drug task forces composed of state, local, county, and federal agencies are supervised by the East and West Region Special Investigation Divisions.
