MPSCS 800 MHZ RADIO TRAINING 2013

Michigan State Police (MSP) Communications Section conducts 800 MHz Train the Trainer (TTT) and Operator Training (OT) courses throughout the Michigan area upon request.  Classes are given at a low cost for any agency currently on the MPSCS system or any agency looking for training prior to a switch over from their current radio system.

 

800 MHz Radio Training - Train the Trainer

 

Course Description:  Train the Trainer is a 4-day in depth detailed 800 MHz course that gives trainers the tools needed to train a complex system to users.  Personnel who complete the Train the Trainer course will have met the required MPSCS training to conduct the one day Operator Training course.  Students are also provided with the necessary training aids to conduct MPSCS Operator Training classes including a PowerPoint presentation, quick reference guides, and operator training manuals for Motorola, EF Johnson and Kenwood radios.

 

Class Size:  Minimum 5 students/Maximum 15 students

 

Cost:  $100.00 per student

 

800 MHz Radio Training - Operator Training

 

Course Description:  The Operator Training course is a 1-day, 8-hour course, designed to teach users of the 800 MHz system to operate the portable and mobile radios.  Personnel who complete the Operator Training course will have met the required MPSCS training and will be able to adequately operate the Motorola, EF Johnson or Kenwood radios that are used on the MPSCS.  This course does not prepare students to conduct radio training for their own agencies.

 

Class Size:  Minimum 5 students/Maximum 15 students

 

Cost:  $25.00 per student

 

**Note:  Both above courses are MCOLES Registered and eligible for 302 funds.

 

800 MHz Radio Training - Operator Refresher Training

 

Course Description:  The Operator Refresher Training is a 2-hour block of instruction which uses a hands-on' approach, reviews the operation of both the portable and mobile radio and revisits the concept of zones and talk groups, scanning, radio tones/bonks, battery maintenance, radio repair procedures, the 800 MHz system, other agencies in your area and interoperability.  This course is designed for those users who have already attended the required 8-hour 800 MHz Operator Training course, but could benefit from a reviewThis course does not take the place of the 8-hour Operator Training Course nor does it prepare students to conduct radio training for their own agencies.

 

Class Size:  Maximum 20 students

 

Cost:  $150.00 flat fee
