The Michigan Renewables Energy Program (MREP) will hold a biomass committee meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9, in Escanaba. The public is invited to attend.
The meeting will feature presentations on the feedstock/raw material supply chain; the activities of Michigan State University and Michigan Technological University related to the Woody Feedstock Center of Energy Excellence; local bioenergy that pairs combined heat and power with local grocers; and a summary of the energy bills that passed the Michigan legislature.
The meeting will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Conference Room 952 of the Joseph Heirman University Center, on the campus of Bay de Noc Community College. It is located at 2001 North Lincoln Rd.
The Michigan Renewables Energy Program (MREP) was established by the legislature, and implemented by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), to promote the use of renewable energy in the state.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
