The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued an order granting an amended license to UP Power Marketing LLC as an alternative electric supplier (AES).
The company submitted a supplemental filing to expand its retail base beyond the White Pine Copper Refinery to include non-affiliate industrial and commercial entities in Michigan .
The MPSC approved the license based on a determination that the company possesses sufficient technical competence to engage in energy transactions, is capable of meeting safety requirements for electric operations, and complies with other lawful obligations.
The company must comply with all applicable provisions of the Customer Choice and Electricity Reliability Act and the MPSC's orders, and provide service to customers within a reasonable time. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the license or other penalties. As part of its expanded license, the company must provide the Commission with annual reports, which include statistical data and code of conduct reports, and environmental disclosures.
UP Power Marketing LLC has an office in White Pine, Mich.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
