The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted Muskegon Development Company authority to construct and operate a natural gas pipeline in Michigan.
The company was granted authority to construct and operate the Storey Lake 12 Pipeline. The proposed 2.6 mile, 3.5-inch steel pipeline will commence at the company’s Storey Lake Central Production Facility and will extend to an interconnection with DTE Gas & Oil Company’s pipeline, completely located in Corwith Township in Otsego County.
The pipeline will be used to efficiently transport natural gas to market by way of the existing gas transmission system.
Muskegon Development Company, headquartered in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., requested approval to construct and operate the Storey Lake 12 Pipeline on Aug. 29.
The pipeline will meet the requirements of the Michigan Gas Safety standards if constructed, tested and operated as proposed.
The Commission concluded that the pipeline will serve the public convenience and necessity.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
