The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted Savoy Energy, L.P. authority to construct and operate a natural gas pipeline in Michigan.
The company was granted authority to construct and operate the Big Creek 8 Pipeline. The proposed 1.5 mile, 3-inch steel pipeline will commence at Savoy’s USA & State Big Creek 1-8 Well and extend to an interconnection with Merit Energy’s pipeline, all located in Big Creek Township in Oscoda County.
The pipeline will be used to efficiently transport natural gas to market by way of the Merit Energy’s Mentor Plant and the existing gas transmission system.
Savoy Energy, L.P., headquartered in Traverse City, requested approval to construct and operate the Big Creek 8 Pipeline on Sept. 8.
The pipeline will meet the requirements of the Michigan Gas Safety standards if constructed, tested and operated as proposed.
The Commission concluded that the pipeline will serve the public convenience and necessity.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
