October 14, 2004

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted Jordan Development Company L.L.C. and Consumers Energy authority to construct and operate pipelines in Michigan.

In Case No. U-14258, the MPSC granted Jordan Development Company authority to construct and operate the Stedronsky Pipeline, located entirely in Springdale Township in Manistee County. The 4-inch, three-quarter mile long steel pipeline will commence at Jordan's State Springdale and Stedronsky #14-15 HD well and will extend to an interconnection with the company's Springdale 16 pipeline. This pipeline will be used to efficiently transport natural gas to market by way of the existing gas transmission system. Its approximate cost is $120,000.

Jordan Development, headquartered in Traverse City, Mich., requested MPSC approval to construct the Stedronsky Pipeline on Sept. 2.

In Case No. U-14276, the MPSC granted Consumers Energy authority to construct and operate the Riverside Storage Field Main Header Extension, located entirely in Winterfield Township in Clare County. The 12-inch, 0.49-mile steel pipeline will commence at Consumers' Riverside Storage Field and extend to an interconnection with Consumers' Muskegon River Compressor Station. This pipeline will be used to efficiently manage its storage field inventories. Its approximate cost is $514,000.

Consumers Energy, headquartered in Jackson, Mich., requested MPSC approval to construct the Riverside Storage Field Main Header Extension on Sept. 2.

The Commission concluded that each of the pipelines will serve the public convenience and necessity.

The new pipelines will meet the requirements of the Michigan Gas Safety Standards if constructed, tested and operated as proposed. The companies must file with the Commission, within 60 days after construction of the pipelines, a completion report that includes pressure test data and maps of the pipelines, as constructed.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
