The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a voluntary renewable energy program for customers of Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op.
Under the green/renewable energy rider tariff, customers may choose to participate in the program for $1.75 per 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) block, subject to a price cap of $2.50 per 100 kWh.
"More and more electric customers in Michigan are choosing to participate in a green energy program," said MPSC Chairman Orjiakor Isiogu. "Presque Isle customers are the latest ratepayers who can voluntarily support renewable energy produced in Michigan, for Michigan."
Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op is a purchaser of power from Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative, which has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement for renewable energy from Harvest Wind Farm, LLC. This wind farm in Huron County is expected to be in operation early this year.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
