Project Great Start

Project Great Start As a parent you are your child's first and most important teacher. Doing simple everyday things like talking, reading, and playing helps your child grow and even increases your child's IQ.

The Project Great Start website provides information and tools to help you with this important task. Children learn more from birth to age three than any other time in life. During this time, what we do matters and will determine the way they learn, think and behave forever.

To ensure all children in Michigan have the opportunity for a Great Start and a Great Life, Governor Granholm has launched a statewide effort to coordinate both public and private efforts to achieve common objectives and measurable results for Michigan’s youngest children. Project Great Start (PGS) encompasses both immediate action and creating a blueprint, or strategic plan, for Michigan's early childhood system of programs, services and support aids for all children from birth to age five.
