Newborn Hearing Screening

It is important to identify babies who have a hearing loss, so they can receive help with communication development at a young age. The Department of Community Health Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program works with hospitals and clinics to identify newborns and infants who have a hearing loss.

The Michigan's Community Hearing Screening Program brochure provides additional information for parents on the screening process.
