| Education & Your Child |
Studies show again and again that when parents get involved in their children’s education, good things happen. Grades and test scores improve. Children become more likely to pass and go to better colleges. They develop better social skills, their self-esteem rises, and they become less likely to use drugs and alcohol.
The Department of Education's Parents & Family website provides extensive information on schools and education. Some topics include: Helping Your Child Succeed, School Assessment & Curriculum, Children With Special Learning Needs, Choosing A College or Career, and Scholarship Opportunities
The Bureau of School Finance & School Law's Student Issues Unit provides assistance to students, parents, school district personnel, community groups/citizens, and educational personnel in their efforts to ensure equity, fairness and equal opportunity for all kindergarten through 12th grade students. The staff offers referrals to help resolve issues and provides callers with information related to School Code regulations.
