The Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the presence of a cougar in Baraga County in the Upper Peninsula. A photo of the animal was taken by Baraga County resident Fred Nault near Skanee on Saturday, May 5.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host open houses on Wednesday, June 20, in Indian River and Thursday, June 21 in Gaylord to provide information and receive public comment on proposed forest management treatments for 2014 in the Gaylord management unit.
