6:30 PM: We peel off our wet wool clothes and wet boots and hang them to dry around the heating stove in the bunkhouse.

Some of the shanty boys brush down and feed the horses. Others put away the equipment. The blacksmith starts his repair work, and the saw filer files the saws for the next day.
