THE MICHIGAN GAMING CONTROL BOARD

RESOLUTION NO. 2004-02

A Board Resolution To Acknowledge The Contributions and Accomplishments Of Former Board Member Judge Roman S. Gribbs, And Commend Him For His Service To The Michigan Gaming Control Board And The People Of The State Of Michigan

WHEREAS, The Michigan Gaming Control Board has been statutorily charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act No. 69 of 1997, relating to the proper licensing and regulation of casino gaming in the State of Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Roman Gribbs established himself as the consummate public servant, first as the Wayne County Sheriff in the sixties, Mayor of Detroit and Judge of the 3rd Judicial Circuit for Wayne County in the seventies and early eighties; and just prior to Board service Judge Gribbs served on the Michigan Court of Appeals from 1982 through his retirement in 2001; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Gribbs was appointed by the Honorable John M. Engler, Governor of the state of Michigan, in February 2001, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ms. Paula Blanchard for a term expiring December 31, 2003, to serve the people of Michigan by helping shape the future of the state's casino gaming industry through his work on the Michigan Gaming Control Board; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Gribbs has served the People of the State of Michigan with distinction and made many valuable contributions to the Board during his membership on the Board; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Gribbs' dedication, commitment, integrity and uncommon wisdom and expertise as the Board Chairman are well recognized and appreciated by his Board colleagues and by the People of the State of Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Gribbs continues to serve his community through ongoing civic activities, and many other ways, NOW THEREFORE,

IT IS RESOLVED that the Michigan Gaming Control Board HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND COMMENDS Judge Roman Gribbs for his diligent public service on the Board, and extends to him our very best wishes of happiness, success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
