Michigan State Police Detective First Lieutenant

Darwin A. Scott

For His Outstanding

Service To The Michigan Gaming Control Board

WHEREAS, Michigan State Police Detective First Lieutenant Darwin A. Scott was initially assigned in April 1999, to command the Gaming Section within the Southeast Criminal Investigation Division of the Michigan Department of State Police, to provide the Michigan Gaming Control Board with requested assistance and support in carrying out and fulfilling its duties under the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended ("the Act"); and,

WHEREAS, Detective First Lieutenant Scott diligently performed his assigned duties and responsibilities as Detective First Lieutenant of the State Police Gaming Section for over 3 years between April 1999 and June 2003, by effectively leading the Gaming Section in providing the Michigan Gaming Control Board and its staff with necessary assistance and support in conducting the required investigations and executing and enforcing the provisions of the Act; and,

WHEREAS, Detective First Lieutenant Scott's effective leadership and management of the State Police Gaming Section and invaluable advice and counsel to the Board regarding investigative, enforcement and security issues, over 3 years, has greatly assisted the Board and its staff in implementing, administering and enforcing the Act; notably enhanced public safety in the three Detroit casinos licensed under the Act; and strongly promoted and bolstered public confidence in the integrity of gaming operations in the Detroit casinos and the effectiveness of the Board's regulation of those operations; and,

WHEREAS, Detective First Lieutenant Scott was recently re-assigned to command the Downriver Area Narcotics Organization (DRANO) in Downriver Wayne County; and,

WHEREAS, Detective First Lieutenant Scott’s invaluable assistance and service to the Board as Detective First Lieutenant of the State Police Gaming Section over the past 3 years is well recognized and appreciated by the Board and its staff; NOW THEREFORE,

IT IS RESOLVED that the Michigan Gaming Control Board hereby acknowledges and commends Detective First Lieutenant Darwin A. Scott for his outstanding assistance and diligent service to the Board, as Detective First Lieutenant of the State Police Gaming Section between April 1999 and June 2003, and extends our congratulations and best wishes on his recent new assignment to command the DRANO Unit of the Michigan State Police Southeast Criminal Investigation Division.
