RESOLUTION NO. 2006-02

A Board Resolution Acknowledging

The Contributions and Accomplishments of Executive Director

and Commending Him

For Distinguished and Honorable Service to the

Michigan Gaming Control Board and the People of the State of Michigan

WHEREAS, the Michigan Gaming Control Board was statutorily created and charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act 69 of 1997, relating to the proper licensing and regulation of casino gaming in the City of Detroit, as authorized by the Act; and,

WHEREAS, Daniel J. Gustafson was duly appointed to serve a six-year term as the second appointed executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board by the Honorable John M. Engler, Governor of the State of Michigan, on November 24, 2002, with an affirmative vote of the Michigan Senate; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Gustafson effectively led the Board, as its executive director, ensuring that stringent licensing standards and adequate Board authority to properly and effectively license and regulate casino operations was maintained to keep them free of corrupt influences and protect the public interest; and,

WHEREAS, Executive Director Gustafson also led the Board into the expansion phase of the casinos that provided the sale of the MotorCity Casino, the approval of the financing and construction of three permanent casinos in Detroit, and the increased staffing of MGCB positions to effectively carry out the required background investigations and licensing proceedings for each of the three licensed Detroit casinos authorized by the Act, as well as their initial employees and suppliers; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Gustafson served the Board and the People of the State of Michigan with honor and distinction; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Gustafson's dedication, integrity, fairness, astute leadership, keen insight and prudent judgment as the executive director of the Board are well-recognized and appreciated by his staff, colleagues, and the members of the Board and by the People of our State; NOW THEREFORE,

IT IS RESOLVED that the Michigan Gaming Control Board HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND COMMENDS Daniel J. Gustafson for his diligent public service and many valuable contributions and accomplishments, and extends to Dan our very best wishes for continued happiness, success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
